Public Utility Easement

In real estate, a “public utility easement” (PUE) is a legal right granted to utility companies and municipalities to access and use a portion of a property for the installation, maintenance, and operation of public utilities such as water, gas, electricity, sewage, and telecommunications. This easement ensures that essential services can be provided to the community without requiring the ownership of the land. The property owner retains ownership of the land but must allow access to the utility companies as specified in the easement agreement.
